Why one artist, start to finish
Thulasi trained formally as a makeup artist and has spent the last five years working Chennai weddings — most of them on location, in halls and homes rather than a studio with controlled lighting. That is where the craft is really tested: a base that behaves in December humidity, a braid that survives a garland exchange, pleats that stay sharp through a four-hour ceremony.
She started Shaarmika's Bridal Studio in Kundrathur to do the whole job herself instead of handing brides between three vendors. Makeup, hair and draping are one continuous piece of work, and keeping them under one pair of hands is why the look still holds at 11 PM.
Every trial, every wedding morning and every touch-up between ceremonies is run by Thulasi. There are no trainee handovers and no last-minute substitutes — the artist you meet is the artist who shows up.
