Muhurtham

Planned around the muhurtham hour

A Tamil wedding is decided by the muhurtham time. Everything we do on the morning is scheduled backwards from it.

Backwards from the muhurtham

Give us the exact muhurtham time and we build the getting-ready schedule from it, with buffer, and share it a week ahead with your family and photographer.

We arrive before you wake

For a 5–7 AM muhurtham that usually means a 2 to 3 AM start at your home or hall. Early starts are normal for us, not an exception we charge for.

Jadai for the sitting hours

The braid is weighted and secured for a bride who will be seated, garlanded and moved between rituals — not for someone standing still in a studio.

Survives the homam

Smoke and heat from the fire are hard on a base. Products and setting are chosen with the homam specifically in mind.

Madisar when you need it

Iyer and Iyengar madisar draping, with the extra time built into the plan. Many families want madisar for the muhurtham and a Kanjivaram for the reception.

A different reception face

Morning rituals and an evening reception need different intensity. The second look is planned at the trial, not improvised at 6 PM.

Your Wedding Days

Every function, in order

A Tamil wedding is rarely one event. Here is how we usually plan the looks across the sequence.

  1. 01

    Nichayathartham

Engagement — lighter, glowing, daytime-friendly. This is where most brides want soft glam rather than a full bridal face.

  2. 02

    Mehendi & sangeet

Fresh and comfortable, easy to keep for hours. Hair off the face, and nothing that will transfer onto anyone's clothes.

  3. 03

    Muhurtham

The full traditional look — strong eyes, classic lip, full jadai alangaram, madisar or Kanjivaram, temple jewellery set and pinned.

  4. 04

    Reception

A different look for the evening: fuller glam, a change of hairstyle, and a lighter drape for a lehenga or designer saree.

  5. 05

    Touch-ups throughout

Between functions we blot, refresh the lip and re-pin the drape, so the last photograph of the night looks like the first one of the morning.

FAQ

Tamil Bridal MakeupQuestions

Do you do makeup for an early morning muhurtham?
Yes, that is most of our work. For a 5–7 AM muhurtham we usually start between 2 and 3 AM at your home or hall. Early starts are part of the normal booking, not a surcharge.
Can you drape a madisar saree for the muhurtham?
Yes, in both the Iyer and Iyengar styles. Madisar takes longer than a Kanjivaram drape, so mention it when you book so the extra time is built into the schedule.
How much does Tamil bridal makeup cost in Chennai?
From ₹7,999 for Silver, which includes makeup, hairstyling and draping. Gold is ₹9,999 with a pre-bridal facial and premium lashes, and Platinum is ₹14,999 with extensions, a jewellery set and the groom's makeover.
Can I have a different look for the muhurtham and the reception?
Yes, and most brides do. The second look — different makeup intensity, a changed hairstyle and a fresh drape — is planned at the trial and quoted before you confirm, never added as a surprise.
Will the makeup survive the homam smoke and heat?
It is chosen for exactly that. A waterproof, transfer-resistant base with a proper setting routine handles the fire and the hours of sitting, and we touch up between rituals.
Do you provide the flowers for the jadai?
You arrange the flowers with your florist — jasmine, roses and kanakambaram — and we build the jadai alangaram with them on the morning. We will tell you roughly how much to order for your hair length.
How far in advance should I book for a muhurtham date?
Peak Tamil wedding months fill early. For dates between January and March, or in the Aadi and Margazhi-adjacent auspicious windows, three to six months ahead is safest.
Do you travel outside Chennai for Tamil weddings?
Yes. Travel is free anywhere inside Chennai city limits, and outstation weddings — Kanchipuram, Sriperumbudur, Mahabalipuram and further — are quoted separately before you confirm.
